We hope to welcome you into our organization so that you can use your skills to help our mission of moving Toward Zero Waste!

Dargan Gilmore
Volunteer Director

Dargan is a wife and mom of 3 young kids and one fur baby. Moving “toward zero waste” has been an empowering and positive lifestyle change for her and her family. Dargan is passionate about sharing the TZW message because she wants to help others decrease their carbon footprint and landfill space.

Join us as a volunteer with our nonprofit organization, Toward Zero Waste, based in Cary, North Carolina. We serve all North Carolina residents and are affiliated with groups throughout the United States working toward a healthier environment for humans and all living creatures on our fragile planet. Presently we have Toward Zero Waste Community Directors in Cary and Raleigh.

Toward Zero Waste operates is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit, governed by a board of directors. Staff consists of an Executive Director, Community Directors in each of our Zero Waste cities, and a Volunteer Coordinator to help volunteers find rewarding jobs for their skills. Our commitment to our volunteers is to provide them with up-to-date information, realistic goals, good training, plus assistance and feedback so they can be successful. We strive to respect the skills of our volunteers, listen to their ideas and suggestions and treat them as valuable team members.
